 DCES Parent Pick-up Procedures for 2026-27

THE NUMBERS CORRESPOND WITH THE NUMBERS IN PINK ON THE MAP.

1. Vehicles can continue entering the front gate from both directions from Harbor View Road.
2. Vehicles will continue to line up in 2 parallel lines in the parking lot.
3. 8 Vehicles will move forward at one time from a single line toward the front of the school. The lines will alternate leaving 8 vehicles at a time.  A staff member will call student names along with a cone number for the student to meet their vehicle.
4. Vehicles will stop at the “Stop” sign held by a staff member.
5. Safety patrols will be stationed at each cone to help load students by opening and closing car doors.
6. When all 8 cars are loaded with their students, the staff member will turn their sign to “Go” and all 8 cars will leave the line at the same time.
7. If a student is not at their cone and all other cars have their children, the vehicle without their child will pull forward through the line to cone “0” to wait for their child.
8. If the driver assists with buckling their child, please load your student at their cone and pull forward to cone “0” to buckle your child.
9. VPK and their siblings will load at cone “0” and may use the outside lane to pull ahead of vehicles parked along the canopy loading their children.
10. Parents picking up VPK students and their siblings will use the open lane to pass to get to cone “0” which is in front of cone “1”.  There will be three Cone “0’s”.
11. After 2:50 pm, when student dismissal begins, please do not enter the exit gate in the front of the school to park and pick up your child.  Please join the parent pick-up line to reduce risk and maintain a constant flow of traffic.

In the event of rain, Cone 0 will not be an option and all students will report to a numbered cone.  VPK will report to a numbered cone if it’s raining.
