Meet Dr. Jessica Jaekel, Our Assistant Principal
At Deep Creek Elementary, we're incredibly fortunate to have Dr. Jessica Jaekel as our Assistant Principal. Dr. Jaekel brings a true passion for education and a wealth of experience to our school community every day.
When she's not at school, Dr. Jaekel loves spending time with her family; she's married and her son even attends Deep Creek! You might also find her tackling fun household projects like home improvements, organizing, or gardening, and she has a fantastic eye for seasonally themed home décor.
Dr. Jaekel grew up on Virginia's East Coast, and her dream of becoming a teacher started way back when she was a little girl. She pursued that dream at Old Dominion University, earning both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Early Childhood Education. Always eager to learn and grow, she later continued her studies at Regent University, achieving both her Educational Specialist's and Doctoral degrees in K-12 School Leadership. She truly believes that learning never stops!
Throughout her career, Dr. Jaekel has worked with students across many grade levels and programs, including our Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and Talented and Gifted (TAG) students, and she's even trained in Reading Recovery. Before joining us as Assistant Principal, she spent seven years as an instructional coach and lead teacher, which means she's an expert at helping other teachers learn and shine in the classroom. We're so glad to have her leadership supporting our students and staff!
